HUGE changes for our classic mini lobster-boat design in 2024! Flying Rabbit has been converted from diesel to an all-electric motor! Yes, our little green boat is now actually GREEN! Recently installed with an Elco Electric inboard motor, transforming her from a noisy, fuel-guzzler into a quiet, eco-friendly vessel. Now you can experience the joy of boating in harmony with nature, knowing that your adventure is leaving minimal environmental impact. She has a built-in “Get Home Safe” battery alert system. The new electric system comes equipped with emergency stop switch, and multiple safety precautions including over-speed, overload, temperature and over-voltage protection. “How far can I go?” you might ask. Since there are various factors for determining how far you can go on a charge—winds, tides, currents, lading, marine growth on the hull, vessel run speed and RPMs... we’re working on it. We have a dedicated charging station on the Thorofare for your convenience, and a list of available waterfront charging stations around the Penobscot Bay area will be provided.
Flying Rabbit is a comfortable ride for a family with kids or several adults. She has a small cabin with two bunks for a nap on the way home. The covered cockpit gives shade from the sun or protection from wind and waves. Large deck area for seating, even more area now that the old diesel engine box is smaller, and a full stern bench seat.
